Metromile Names New CTO

Jose Mercado has been named Chief Technology Officer at Metromile, a pay-per-mile car insurer, effective immediately. Mercado will continue to report directly to CEO Dan Preston, Metromile said. Mercado joined the company as VP of engineering two years ago; he brings more than 14 years’ experience with designing and developing scalable and highly-available software applications, Metromile said.

Mercado previousl was VP of software development at AisleBuyer, creator of mobile shopping platforms. After the company's acquisition by Intuit, Mercado led the development of the company’s GoPayment mobile application. Prior, he contributed to TIBCO Software's application virtualization and cloud computing platform, as well as Novell's ZENworks systems management product suite.
