Washingon, D. C. - Members of the PIA Insurance Technology Coalition met with Congressional staffers on Capitol this week to discuss data security/identity theft and its potential effect on the insurance industry.
A number of high-profile members of Congress have offered public statements, adding to the growing anticipation that legislation will be passed by Congress in 2005. The type and extent of the legislation is still largely unknown.
"There are a variety of proposals currently 'in play' on Capitol Hill and our industry needs to be better informed about them - anticipating their effect - not just responding after legislation is passed and it's too late," said PIA National Executive Vice President & CEO Len BrevikThe PIA Insurance Technology Coalition.
Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees. The PIA ITC provides education and information to Congress concerning laws and regulations affecting the insurance industry and technology.
