Printing and Imaging Certification Gaining Support

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. - The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), a provider of vendor-neutral certifications for technology professionals, announced that five more companies in the printing and document imaging business are supporting development of a professional certification for the industry’s technicians.

Organizations that have pledged to accept  CompTIA Printing and Document Imaging+ (CompTIA PDI+£) certification include Brother International Corp., Data Vault Inc., HP, Parts Now! and Ricoh Americas Corp.

 “A certification’s industry acceptance and usage depends on the commitment and support of leading organizations,” says John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “The participation of these market and technology leaders signals their strong commitment to a vendor-neutral credential that validates the technical and business skills of professionals working with printing and document imaging devices.”

CompTIA previously announced the support of Canon U.S.A. Inc., Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH, Lexmark International, Pitney Bowes, Sharp Electronics of Canada, Specialized Solutions and Xerox Corp.

The certifiction addresses technical skills related to printers (including inkjet, laser, dot matrix, thermal, and solid Ink), multi-functional products, scanners, faxes, copiers, networking, connectivity, troubleshooting and color theory.

Target candidates for CompTIA PDI+ certification are entry-level technicians with six to twelve months of experience in the installation, connectivity, maintenance and repair, and support of devices in the printing and document imaging industry. That includes service technicians, support technicians and help desk staff.

CompTIA PDI+ is scheduled to be available early next year.
