Progressive and GEICO tied for first overall in the Mobile Insurance Scorecard Q3 2025 by Keynova.
Allstate was third overall, second in app and tied for third with Nationwide and State Farm for mobile web. GEICO is first in mobile app and second for mobile web. Progressive is first in mobile web and tied for third with State Farm for app.
The findings show carriers are focusing on mobile security, supporting Spanish-speaking consumers and introducing coverage assessment tools. Nearly all carriers are using multi-factor authentication (MFA) for account login protection or unknown mobile device logins. Twenty percent of carriers offer a pin number as an alternative to standard credentials. State Farm is the first to enable passkey login.
Beth Robertson, managing director, Keynova Group, told Digital Insurance in a written statement:
"While it is notable that a large percentage of carriers have introduced MFA for increased login protection, there are other ways that carriers should provide customer-facing security assurances. Since policyholder accounts typically hold sensitive personal information, introducing additional safeguards can enhance policyholders' sense of security while also prompting heightened account vigilance. Practices to consider include using MFA to protect against unauthorized policy changes such as to a user's password or address, providing last date and time of login on the authenticated landing page in both the browser and mobile app channels, and confirming completed logout from mobile apps."
