State Auto Names New CIO in Management Shakeup

State Auto has named Greg Tachetti, the former CEO of online small business insurer AssureStart, as its new chief information and strategy officer as part of a larger management revamp.

Personal lines, including farm and ranch, and small commercial, now will be led by Kim Garland, a former AIG executive. Garland also will be managing director of State Auto Labs, a newly formed incubator and R&D unit intended to develop new capabilities and explore new opportunities in P&C insurance for State Auto.

Jessica Buss, senior vice president of specialty lines, has added middle market and large commercial business to her responsibilities. Finally, Steve Hunckler will become SVP and chief administration/services officer, responsible for field service, customer service, call centers, agency operations, purchasing and facilities. Hunckler currently serves as State Auto’s SVP and chief claims officer. And Paul Stachura will join State Auto from QBE North America as SVP and chief claims and loss control officer.

“With these changes, I’m confident we’re building an organization that’s aligned and focused on our goal to grow profitably in every line and win in the marketplace,” said president and CEO Mike LaRocco.
