Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Shelia Anderson as senior vice president and chief information officer of corporate functions, a newly-created role.

Anderson will report to Liberty Mutual’s VP and CIO James McGlennon, while focusing on core systems modernization and new products for Liberty’s policyholders. Her team is also tasked with working with internal teams–such as legal, benefits and talent and enterprise services–to expedite their move to the cloud and develop applications that to improve business workflow, according to the company.

"To keep up with customer expectations and to stay relevant, every company must become faster, more agile and increasingly open to smart risk-taking" said McGlennon, in a statement. “Whether those customers are internal or external, we need to develop products that keep pace with their changing expectations and enhance their user experience."
